Have you considered the consequences of not making a Lasting Power of Attorney?
No one likes to think about losing the ability to manage their own affairs, but the NHS estimate that over 2,000,000 people lack the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves due to dementia, mental health difficulties, brain injuries or other illnesses that may occur even in the prime of life. It is important that you nominate someone you trust NOW to make important decisions on your behalf in the future.
Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) are prepared by Steele Rose & Co for only £160 plus VAT, this fee also includes Certification and normally two home visits from your local Consultant. You may nominate as many Attorneys as you wish and documents may be registered later if/when needed.
Each LPA requires registration with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) before it may be used, so if you also require Steele Rose to prepare and submit the registration documents to the OPG, the total fee is only £330 plus VAT and this service includes:
A visit to your home to take your instructions and then a return visit with the LPA and associated documents for explanation, signing and witnessing, with a 7 day option to cancel your instructions without penalty.Advice and guidance concerning LPAs and the registration process.Preparation and witnessing of the original LPA.Certification.Preparation and submission of registration documents to the OPG.Preparation and submission of up to 5 notifications to nominated individuals.Unlimited number of Attorneys. All communication with the OPG during the long registration process.
A Legal Consultant will visit you in the comfort and privacy of your home or place of work, throughout England and Wales, to take your instructions and make the whole process clear and straightforward.
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a comprehensive 11 page legal document that requires a Certificate Provider's Statement, the nomination of Attorney(s) and the details of at least one other person to be notified on registration (or a second Certificate Provider's Statement). Steele Rose have experienced Legal Consultants who provide advice, complete, print and bind the LPA(s) on your behalf, act as Certificate Providers (if required) and ensure documents are correctly completed, signed and witnessed.
Do not risk preparing an LPA without meeting and discussing your requirements with a legal professional to avoid the many pitfalls you may not know about.
The OPG may reject an LPA at registration if there is an error.
